Perilous Times Primer #39

“Why do the heathen rage, and the people plot a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord and against His Anointed, saying, ‘Let us break Their bonds in pieces and cast away Their cords from us.’ He who sits in the heavens shall laugh; The Lord shall hold them in derision. Then He shall speak to them in His wrath, And distress them in His deep displeasure: ‘Yet I have set My King on My holy hill of Zion. I will declare the decree: The Lord has said to Me, You are My Son, Today I have begotten you. Ask of Me and I will give You the Nations for Your inheritance, and the ends of the earth for Your Possession. … Kiss the Son lest He be angry and you perish in the way, When His wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all those who put Their trust in Him.Psalm 2 (emphasis added)

Are you downcast because of our recent election? Does the fact that the greatest and most powerful nation on Earth has an election process that looks like something from a banana republic? Are you fearful for what is to become of our country? Does it seem to you that the criminals have taken full control of our nation? Is the America that we love and hold dear gone forever? Has God finally turned His back on us for all our great sinfulness? Are many of you asking the age-old question, “If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?” (Psalm 11:3)

First of all, I would encourage you to consider God’s answer to all these and many other questions, “The Lord is in His holy temple, the Lord’s throne is in heaven; His eyes behold, His eyelids test the sons of men. The Lord tests the righteous … For the Lord is righteous, He loves righteousness; His countenance beholds the upright.” (Psalm 11:4–7). If we realize the worst at this time, can any of us complain that God has not showered His grace on this nation above all others? Can any of us claim innocence and say that we do not deserve this? Or say that Almighty God is unfair to let us taste a small part of what the rest of the world endures daily? If we are to be tested, then let us “gird up the loins of our mind” (1 Pet. 1:13) and spirit and determine to pass the test. Faith conquers fear (Psalm 56:3), and we are commanded throughout Scripture to “Fear not!” Let us prove worthy of the Lord we serve and be examples of the Scripture we love and the doctrines we have learned and hold dear. Hold the line!

I would also encourage you to consider another possibility: Since Donald J. Trump was elected President, he has fought for the people of this country. Again and again, it has appeared that he was finished and defeated. Yet time and time again he has outmaneuvered and outsmarted his enemies, and risen up stronger than before. Is there any doubt that God brought him onto the stage of history at this time and has sustained him through an onslaught of hatred, malice, and scorn that few men could have endured? Has he ever seemed downcast to you? Has he ever shown fear or uncertainty? Does he not always seem to be five steps ahead of his foes? Do you think that this corruption in the election has taken him by surprise? Doesn’t it seem like he just might have anticipated this? He wrote in a tweet on June 22, “Rigged 2020 election. Millions of mail-in ballots will be printed by foreign countries, and others. It will be the scandal of our times.” Do you think he made no plan to once again outsmart his enemies? I do not think so. I would suggest that the fact that he put the DHS over elections in early 2020, and that the cyber-security division of DHS reported just a week ago that they were planning the largest-ever operation of its kind to ensure election security in the United States. (Look up “election security” and “DHS over elections” on Google and you will see it all). Also, some time back, President Trump gave an Executive Order regarding foreign interference in U.S. elections, so as to hold accountable any tampering by actors “foreign and domestic” with severe penalties. Could it be that the Old Fox has set a trap and the enemies of this country just walked into it? Does President Trump look worried to you? Maybe he knows some things we do not. What is happening is nothing short of a coup attempt, and I believe it will be met with swift justice!

In the meantime, the next few days may become extremely chaotic. I expect rioting in the streets and, ultimately, the involvement of the U.S. Armed Forces. I highly recommend that you have plenty of food, water, and all necessities in the event of internet blackout and/ or power outages. Be prepared for a week or two, and gas up cars and fill gas cans. Obviously, be prepared to defend your home. Plan, prepare, but do not fear.

In the end, if our eyes are fixed upon the Lord we claim to believe in and serve, we know that His plan cannot be thwarted and that His eye is upon His children. We have nothing to fear. Live like you believe in His sovereignty and power. Rest in His everlasting arms. Trust in the promises of His Word. But don’t count Trump out yet!

Stand firm. Fear not. Hold the line! What we do in time echoes in eternity.
