The Gospel According to David

 Rocky Mountain Bible Conference

May 27–29, 2016

In Psalm 32 David declares, “Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. Blessed is the man to whom the Lord does not impute iniquity.” Paul uses this quote in Rom 4:7–8 to support three great truths of the Gospel:
(1) Justification is by faith in Christ alone;
(2) God imputes His righteousness to those who believe the Gospel; and
(3) This righteous standing before God is apart from works of any kind.

Learn to Discern

The original notes handout for this conference can be found . “Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter.”  (ISA 5:20) Political correctness is spiritual blindness. If we can't identify evil how can we avoid or resist it. "... of whom we have much to say, and hard to explain, since you have become dull of hearing. For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the first principles of the oracles of God; and you have come to need milk and not solid food." (Heb 5:11-12). Evil at is root meaning denotes "bad" outcome. To choose evil is to choose its consequences. We need to discern evil to be able to: (1) identify our enemy; (2) to defend ourself; (3) to forewarn those around us; (4) to make good decisions; (5) so that we can pray the intercessory prayer of a priest. "...dull of hearing" indicates a persistent condition -- progressive decline (Gal 5:4, Heb 12:15). Grace is sufficient (2Co 12:9). "...by this time you ought to be teachers..." indicates reversion to childishness. Hearing alone is not enough. There has to be the practical application. Why is it difficult to discern between two things that are opposite?
