Ezekiel #3
Ezekiel was captive during the 70 years in Babylon 721 B.C.. Jeremiah and Daniel were contemporaries. Ezekiel prophesied during captivity that Jerusalem would be destroyed within 7 years. 1-24 the glory of God departs 25-28 the glory returns. Chapter 33 describes our day. Ezekiel was a priest by lineage and training at the age of 30. Theme is the Glory of God. Ezekiel calls himself the “Son of Man”. The most often used phrase “then they will know the I am the Lord”. He was 30 years old when the hand of the Lord was upon him (Eze 1:1-3, 1Ki 18:46). He saw an electric God and cherubim – calf is clean and pure (Eze 1:4-5, Heb 12:29). Bronze refers to judgment. God doesn’t turn – His purpose doesn’t waiver (Eze 1:6-9, Jam 1:17). John saw the throne with living creatures as well (Rev 4:1-8, Eze 1:10-14). Wheels within wheels (Eze 1:16); God is everywhere; His plan doesn’t change and it covers the universe (Rom 11:29, Eze 1:17-18). Eyes on the wheels depicts omniscience (Rev 4:5-8, Rev 5:6, Isa 11:2). God is omnipotent (Eze 1:19-21). God is described as a man – the only physical manifestation (Eze 1:22-25, Rev 1:15, Dan 7:13-14). Ezekiel saw the Glory of God and fell on his face (Eze 1:26-28). God (Jesus Christ) in symbols: of King – Lion; of Servant – Ox; Man – man representing man ; Eagle – Deity
