Colossians Lesson 4

Colossians Lesson 4

Col 1:4-5 shows that faith is the key to growing up (2Pe 3:18; 2Pe 2:2). This lesson runs through the prayers of Paul (Eph 1:15-23; Eph 3:14-21; Phi 1:3-5; Phi 1:9-12; Col 1:9-14). Several lessons about the WIll of God are also in this lesson (Joh 7:12; Mat 7:21; Mat 7:24; Jam 1:22; Rom 12:1-2; 1Th 1:3). Col 1:10-11 show the results of doing the WIll of God.

Paul never met the Colossians but wrote to them from a Roman prison around 62 AD to counter misconceptions of his day. It magnifies the character of Jesus Christ more than any other book in the New Testament, and counters misconceptions of our day as well. The key verse may well be Col 1:18 "...that in all things, He might have preeminence."
