As we look around the world, it’s like we’re in a runaway train. Things are changing by the day. Massive changes are happening by the day. How am I going to give an account for the time that God gave me? I don’t know if you have thought much about how often God in His Word boils our life down to a day. You ever thought about that? We live one day at a time.

Psalm 90:12, “So teach us to number our days that we may be able to present a heart of wisdom.” You know, one of the things that Satan loves to do is either keep us caught up in the past, or keep us looking forward to the future. And in between those two things we’re missing right now.

Here’s one for you. Hebrews 3:15, “Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your heart today.” Why? Because it’s all you’ve got. We’re gathered here today with God’s Word opened with the Spirit of God present to take that truth and apply it as you need it, and as I need it. We all have to have wisdom.

2nd Timothy 1:12, “For I know whom I believe, and I am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed unto Him until that day.” The reason it’s important to be serious about today is because one day we’re going to answer for it. Think about what he says to keep what I’ve committed. Every day we’re making a deposit in the Bank of eternity, and one day we’re going to get our returns. We’re going to receive back what we’ve entrusted to him. And the only thing that you and I can entrust to him. It’s time. Time well used in learning His word, time well spent in applying it to life. And one day that returns coming back to us.

2nd Corinthians 6:2, “Behold, now is the accepted time. Today is the day of salvation.” Isn’t it interesting that we tend to think of our salvation as past and future, don’t we? If I were to ask you (talking about our life comes down to days,) “What is the most important day in your life? You would probably say the day that I trusted Christ as my Savior. That would be a logical answer. But you’re not there now. You’re here today and today is as important as that day. When Paul says, “today is the day of salvation,” he is not addressing unsaved people, trying to get them to trust in the Lord Jesus Christ. He’s talking to believers who need to be delivered today.

Salvation is not a one and done thing. It’s a beginning and a process and an ultimate culmination. We were saved the day that we trusted Christ as our Savior. We will be saved one day, ultimately from chaos and confusion around us when we enter into His presence. But are we being saved today? If all of us live today the way we’re supposed to live, we’d have no regrets. The only way to live without fear is to live today the way we’re supposed to live. Jesus said in Matthew 6:34, “Take care of today, tomorrow will take care of itself.

So let’s pray that God will use us today. Today, if we hear his voice, let’s hear it and use it.
