Hebrews 10:17-18 says, “Their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more. Where there is remission of these, there is no longer an offering for sin.” Christ is the final offering for all sin for all time. Verse 19, “Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the holiest by the blood of Jesus,” We’re speaking of the heavenly throne room.” And then he says, “by a new and living way …” And it’s new, because it inaugurated the new covenant and it’s living because we have a resurrected Savior. “… which He consecrated for us through the veil that is His flesh.” You know, when Jesus cried out on the cross, “It is finished,” Matthew 27:51 tells us, the veil ripped from the top to the bottom.

What was the purpose of the veil? It was a barrier of access to God. Only the high priest could enter into the Holy of Holies, and that only once a year, on the Day of Atonement. When that veil ripped from top to bottom, it was a signal that the Old Covenant was done. It was finished. There were to be no more sacrifices. There was to be no more temple. There was to be no more offerings. It was done. The offering that God had chosen for Himself in our behalf had been made. And the tearing of the veil was God’s message, saying, “The door is open. Come in. Enter into My presence.”
