The prophet grapples with the “mysteries of Providence,” and the age-old dilemma of reconciling the presence of evil with the existence of a good and all-powerful God. This is called “theodicy,” the “vindication of the justice and goodness of God in spite of the existence of evil in the world” (Webster’s Dictionary). Habakkuk clearly declares that the ultimate resolution of the dilemma is found only by a living faith (Hab 2:4) in a loving God (Hab 3:13).

Ephesians #34

Ephesians #34

Trip report Summer 2003. Light has the power to drive darkness away (Joh 1:1-12, Joh 8:1-12, Joh 9:5, Mat 5:16, Eph 5:8). Contrasts: (1) Light = God's Holiness; Darkness = Satan's lie and man's sin 1Jo 1:5-7; (2) light= life; darkness = death (Joh 1:4, Joh 8:12), (3) light = obedience; darness = disobedience (1Jo 1:5-7, 1Jo 2:9-11), (4) only two kingdoms - light & dark (Col 1:13, Eph 5:8, Eph 5:11). We've been transferred and transformed. The child reflects the parent -- the Father of Lights (Jam 1:17). We are to walk as children of light (Eph 5:8).
