The epistle of Second Timothy is considered to be one of Paul’s most personal letters. He is writing during his second and final imprisonment to his trusted and beloved son in the faith. Paul knows his execution is imminent. His concern is not for himself, but for Timothy, who must continue in the spiritual battle. His theme, “the good soldier of Jesus Christ” follows that of first Timothy, “Fight the good fight” (1Ti 1:18; 1Ti 6:12).

Am I under a generational curse?

Have you ever wondered, “Am I under a generational curse? Did my grandfather, great grandfather, some ancestor did something I don't even know about it? And I'm under the curse of it. What am I going to do”? Forget it. It's baloney. Say, how do you know? “Knowing you are not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers (1st Peter 3:18).” “Redeemed,” by the way, means, “to buy a slave out of the slave market of sin.” We were redeemed not with corruptible things ..." From what? “... the aimless conduct received by tradition from our fathers.” Did you know that you're a mirror image of some ancestor that may have lived a thousand years ago? You're the spitting image of somebody and maybe a composite of several somebodies. But you know what? All of that aimless conduct, all of that genetic makeup, all of that sin nature trends that have come down to you, the power of it's been broken! You've been redeemed from it -- set free!“You were redeemed with the precious blood of Christ as of a lamb without blemish and without spot (1st Peter 3:19)."
