The epistle of Second Timothy is considered to be one of Paul’s most personal letters. He is writing during his second and final imprisonment to his trusted and beloved son in the faith. Paul knows his execution is imminent. His concern is not for himself, but for Timothy, who must continue in the spiritual battle. His theme, “the good soldier of Jesus Christ” follows that of first Timothy, “Fight the good fight” (1Ti 1:18; 1Ti 6:12).

Profiles in Providence #3

Philippians - Profiles in Providence - Florida 2008

Providence of God - the watchful eye of God looking for opportunity, Mercy and Grace. Acts 16:1-40 illustrates the character of the Philippian believers in relationships. Paul prays that their love of Christ may abound even more (Phi 1:9). It's a gift to receive suffering from God (Phi 1:29). Paul had restrictions, barriers, and hinderances, yet he rejoiced; now the Philippians did too (Phi 1:30) "Let your conduct be worthy of the gospel of Christ" (Phi 1:27, 1Pe 1:6-7). Enemies of the gospel is proof of thier judgement (Phi 1:28), but proof also of our deliverance. Paul requests that the Philippians "fulfill my joy ... being of the same mind,... love and of one accord. " (Phi 2:1-2).
