Knowing God—A Study in 2nd Corinthians

Moving Beyond Knowledge into Experience—

Igniting the Tinder of Truth by the Fire of the Spirit

This conference was presented in Northern Virginia February 28–March 2, 2014.

“For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness,
who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge
of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.” 2Co 4:6

Second Corinthians is much more than just a defense and vindication of Paul’s ministry. It expounds the foundation of his life and service in the experiential knowledge of God in all His varied manifestations to Paul. In other words, Paul was who he was, and did what he did, because he continued to grow in his knowledge of God. This knowledge was not merely intellectual or academic. Rather it was essentially experiential, as Paul came to know the living Christ in his daily life.

Daniel #20

Daniel #20

Daniel deals with the time factor of the tribulation - 70 weeks (Dan 9:24-27). Background: Zedekiah ignored Jeremiah and rebelled against Nebuchadnezzar. (2Ch 36:11-21) The people were to be in captivity for 70 years according to Jeremiah (2Ch 36:21). Daniel studied Jeremiah (Dan 9:2, Jer 25:11-12, Jer 29:10-14). Daniel begins to pray in accordance with God's word -- his prayers had great power (1Jo 5:14-15, Jam 5:16). Daniel gets his answer by Gabriel - the messiah wouldn't come for 490 years - seven sabaticals - to the 2nd advent (Dan 9:24). There are 360 days in a Jewish year. Tribulation prophecy equivalent time periods: "time, times and half times" (Dan 7:24-25), "1260 days" (Rev 12:6) or "42 months" (Rev 13:5). The one specific prophecy permission to "rebuild the wall of Jerusalem" - BC 445 1st of nissan March 14th (Neh 2:1-8). March 14th, 445 BC forward 173880 days to April 6th, 32 AD is the triumphal entry (Dan 9:25-26, Zec 9:9, Luk 19:28-48). Where did the wise men come from (Mat 2:1-2)? Daniel's wise men (Dan 2:48) carried tradition for 483 years. The Prince to come will destroy the sanctuary (Dan 9:26, Mat 24:2, Luk 21:20, Mat 24:6-8). The Great Tribulation starts at the stopping of worship (Dan 9:27, Mat 24:21).
