Knowing God—A Study in 2nd Corinthians

Moving Beyond Knowledge into Experience—

Igniting the Tinder of Truth by the Fire of the Spirit

This conference was presented in Northern Virginia February 28–March 2, 2014.

“For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness,
who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge
of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.” 2Co 4:6

Second Corinthians is much more than just a defense and vindication of Paul’s ministry. It expounds the foundation of his life and service in the experiential knowledge of God in all His varied manifestations to Paul. In other words, Paul was who he was, and did what he did, because he continued to grow in his knowledge of God. This knowledge was not merely intellectual or academic. Rather it was essentially experiential, as Paul came to know the living Christ in his daily life.

Psalm 7 - A Prayer For Vindication

Psalm 7 - A Prayer For Vindication

Psa 7:1-17 is a prayer for divine vindication under slander. Slander reflects Satan's character (Joh 8:44, Rev 12:9-10). Slander has destroyed churches (Gal 5:15). David illustrates Christ being slandered though He was sinless (1Pe 2:21-23). If you seek to follow and serve Christ, you will be slandered. Lessons: (1) The lord is our safe refuge - casah under injurious slander (Heb 6:18, Psa 7:1-2, 1Pe 5:8, Exo 20:16). (2) Consider if you are guilty of the accusations (Psa 7:3-5). Unjust criticism can be a blessing if we get corrected. (3) Entrust yourself to the court of heaven (Psa 7:6-8, Gen 31:39, Heb 12:5-6). God will bring Justice to light. (4) Our personal relationship to God is with His Grace and Justice (Psa 7:9-13, Jer 17:10, Psa 11:4). (5) In every act of evil are consequences for the doer (Psa 7:14-16). (6) We need to rejoice in knowing God and His ways, and praise Him while we put confidence in Him (Psa 7:17, 1Pe 1:6-9, Job 13:15). Vindication is in the hands of God if we commit ourselves to Him.
