John’s primary PURPOSE is that believers will enter and maintain fellowship with God, with the RESULT of inner joy.
His secondary PURPOSE is to give believers ASSURANCE of their salvation, with the RESULT that they will continue to live by faith.

“That which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ. And these things we write to you that our joy may be full … These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may [continue to] believe in the name of the Son of God.” 1Jo 1:3-4; 1Jo 5:13 (emphasis added)

This compilation of notes represents the truths found in the Epistle of First John.

Psalm 5 - Who Can Stand before God?

Psalm 5 - Who Can Stand before God?

Wisdom is the skill of living life God's way. Psalm 5 is a morning prayer. Believers assurance is based on his standing in Grace (Psa 5:1-3, Rom 5:1-2, 1Pe 3:10-12). Positional truth plus practical obedience is the key to powerful prayer. The one who reject Christs enters into unreserved judgment (Psa 5:4-6, Psa 15:1-5, Joh 3:18-19, Joh 3:36). The believer's thanksgiving is best expressed by living god's way -- accepting His guidance (Psa 5:7-8, Rom 12:1-2, Heb 4:16). Those in the habit of being led by God are mature sons (Rom 8:14). Imprecatory prayer takes unbelievers' rejection of God into account. David asks that God's judgment be levied (Psa 5:9-10). "Let judgment fall on unbelievers" (Rev 6:9-11). Our standing in Grace through faith is our basis for a perpetual fountain of joy (Psa 5:11-12). "Casah" pictures fleeing into the rocks for refuge (Heb 6:18-19). Refuge alludes to cities of refuge. Cities of refuge and meaning illustrates spiritual growth: (1) Cadesh - "holiness"; (2) Shekum - "power"; (3) Hebron - "united"; (4) Bezer - "fortified"; (5) Ramah - "exalted"; (6) Golan - "exile" or "stranger". The ground at the foot of the cross is level; our standing in Grace gives us equal access; our standing allows us all to approach God's throne with powerful prayer that'll impact the world.
