Jude - Contending for the Faith Erie Youth Camp, 2013

These are the notes from the Erie Youth Camp - Summer 2013. Audio lesson for this series can be found HERE.

Jude - The How and Why of Contending for the Faith - 2011 - Denver

The little book of Jude is seldom read, and rarely preached—much to the loss of the Body of Christ. Whereas today many messages and ministries are trumpets giving an uncertain call (1Co 4:8), this small book is a clear call to believers in Jesus Christ to enter the invisible war raging from the beginning of time. In the age-old campaign of Satan against God, the issue is always truth or deception (Joh 8:44–45). Thus, Jude confronts the deceivers of his time with the timeless truth of the good news of life in Christ, and challenges those who have received this life to “contend earnestly [struggle valiantly] for the faith.”

Judges-Lessons on Liberty from an Age of Anarchy-2012-Orange County, CA

This study is from the August 2012 Bible Conference held in Orange County, California on the Book of Judges.

“And if it seems evil to you to serve the LORD, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the river, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.” Jos 24:15

Learn to Discern - 2012 - Denver, CO

Just as accurate Bible teaching produces spiritual maturity and the ability to discern good and evil (Heb 5:14), so false or muddled teaching will lead into evil. Learn to discern by discovering the necessity and means of sharpening spiritual faculties. Listen and read as Gene teaches these truths from the Rocky Mountain Bible Conference.

Malachi - The Choice of a Nation - 2011 - Florida

The prophet Malachi ministered to the Jews who returned from exile. In 586 B.C., Jerusalem was utterly destroyed (see Lamentations), and the final deportations of captives were taken to Babylon. Some captives (about 50,000) began to return under the leadership of Zerubbabel (see Ezra, Haggai, and Zechariah). However, the 70-year captivity was not over until the temple was rebuilt and worship resumed in Jerusalem, in 516 B.C. (see 1Ki 8:46–53; Jer 32:36–37; Dan 6:1–17). Many of the sins cited by Malachi were already prominent in the time of Nehemiah (cf. Nehemiah 13) and were corrected by his reforms.

These notes are from the February 2011 conference on Malachi held in Florida.

Micah - Seven Signposts of the End Times - 2012 - Canberra, AUS
Micah gives the time of writing as “in the days of Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah,” (Mic 1:1). This places his ministry from about 740 to 710 B.C. This book of his prophecies was likely compiled around 700 B.C. He was a contemporary of the prophet Isaiah. His name is a shortened form of “Micaiah” (cf. 1Ki 22:8–28, another prophet), meaning “Who is like Jehovah.”

Missionary Methods of Apostle Paul-2012-Brisbane, AUS
Some may ask, “Why should we study the missionary methods of Paul? Surely, in all this time, we have grown beyond his old ways and have found better ways of accomplishing ministry.”

To this I would say, look around at the condition of the church at large throughout the world today, and see if you can find a model of success that compares to Paul. Yes, we have our “mega-churches.” They have huge congregations and lots of money, but are they successful in the sight of God? Are they raising up a generation of mature, Bible-instructed believers? I think not. The ignorance of the average believer today is astounding. Many cannot even give a clear presentation of the Gospel message.

In a recent survey across the United States, only about 13% of regular church goers said that they believe in hell, and about the same number doubted the inspiration and infallibility of the Bible. The church as a whole is in a shambles, and the reason is that we have forsaken the God-given way—exemplified by Paul—to achieve the great commission of “making disciples of all nations” (Mat 28:19).

Philippians - Profiles in Providence - 2008 - South FL

The book of Philippians is a fascinating study of many topics, all bound up in one great theme: the finished work of Christ in His death and resurrection (Phi 2:5–11). It is a letter of thanksgiving to the Philippian church (Phi 1:3; 4:10, 14). It is a letter of encouragement to them as they face many trials (Phi 1:28–30). In it, Paul gives an update on his prison status (Phi 1:12–18), and news of one of their own members who was with him (Phi 2:25–30). Above these things, it is a call to enter into the unshakeable joy of those who know that Jesus Christ controls human history.

These notes from the Book of Philippians were originally created for a conference in South Florida in March 2008.

Romans 8 - Sanctification - 2009 - Kansas
Romans Chapter 8 states that because of the finished work of Christ, the believer is free from all condemnation (Rom 8:1–11). It then says that by means of the continuing work of the Spirit, the believer is free from the dominion of sin (Rom 8:12–27). It concludes that on the basis of God’s sovereign and eternal plan, the believer is free as a result of the defeat of sin (Rom 8:28–39). This book was originally a set of notes given out at the October 2009 Kansas Conference.

Taking the Enigma Out of Paul's Mystery-2013-Colorado
This conference was held in the spring 2013 in Colorado. It complements the two previous Bible conferences held in Arkansas and Northern Virginia.

In addition to being styled "an apostle to the Gentiles" (Rom 11:13), Paul could also be called the apostle of the Mystery. This "mystery" contained new revelation intended for a new people—the Church—living in a new age or dispensation of God's plan.

"now to Him who is able to establish you according to my gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery kept secret since the world began, but now made manifest, and by the prophetic scriptures made known to all nations, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, for obedience to the faith ..." Rom 16:25–26

Ten Disciplines of Victorious Christians

Gene presented this class at the CCCA Allegheny Section Camp in Jumonville, PA in February 2014.

The Anchor of the Soul-2014-Colorado

These lessons were presented May 23–24, 2014 at the Rocky Mountain Bible Conference in Denver, Colorado. At this conference, Gene teaches on passages from the book of Hebrews including the following subjects:

►  Hope as an "anchor of the soul"
►  Eternal security
►  "Pressing on to maturity"
►  Baptism
►  Christ as the perfect sacrifice
►  Process of "falling away" (to include the sin unto death)
►  Priesthood, ambassadorship, and ministry of the individual believer

The key verse for the conference is Heb 6:18–20:

"That by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we might have strong consolation,
we who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us: which hope we have as an anchor of the soul,
both sure and steadfast, and which enters within the veil; where Jesus has entered as a forerunner for us, even Jesus,
having become a High Priest forever after the order of Melchizedek."

The Daniel Project - 2014 Iowa Bible Conference
The Iowa Conference hosted the first planning session of The Daniel Project, designed to organize a group of spiritually motivated young people to reach their generation with the grace and truth of Jesus Christ.

The key verses are:

" ... but the people who know their God shall be strong, and carry out great exploits [take action]. And those of the people who understand shall instruct many ... And some of those of understanding shall fall, to refine them, purify them, and make them wait, until the time of the end ..." Dan 11:32b–33, Dan 11:35

In the above passage, we see five great undertakings of faithful believers in the end times. To be accurate, this passage is speaking specifically of Jewish believers during the Tribulation Period. However, we have every reason to adapt it to these closing moments of the Church Age.
