He must go to Jerusalem, and suffer … and be killed, and be raised the third day.Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection were necessary to fulfill prophecy and to provide eternal life to all who believe (Isa. 53; Acts 2:22-35; 1 Cor. 15:3-4). It was in Jerusalem that Jesus was finally and formally rejected by Israel (Matt. 26:65-68; 27:25).
