Memorial Day
Let’s all keep in mind as we enjoy the peace and freedom of this Memorial Day weekend that our service men and women are far from home and in harms way. We urge each of you to remember them in three significant ways, not just this weekend, but every day.

First, pray for them regularly. Find out the name of someone who is serving and pray for them by name. Pray first of all for their salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. The battlefield is a great place to come to awareness of one’s need for the Savior. Then, pray for those who are children of God, that they will see the military as their mission field, pointing others to Christ by their words and deeds. Pray for the spread of the gospel of grace in all lands where they serve.

Second, call, write, or email someone you know who is far from home and encourage them. Next time you see a member of the Armed Forces, go up and thank them for their service. Get their name and before leaving them say, “I will remember your name in my prayers”.

Third, find an organization that helps and supports wounded vets and their families, and make a generous donation. Let’s put feet to our faith and prayers by taking action! This Memorial Day we have made a donation to the fund at www.semperfifund.org in honor of our son, Cody. Check out various organizations; make sure they are getting the help to needy vets, and give. As you and your family enjoy our hard-won liberties, never forget, “Good people sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf”.
