Letter of Thanks from PNG

Letter of Thanks from Papua New Guinea

Jesus said, "for I was hungry and you gave me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink;

I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me....".

Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, 'Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink?

When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You?

 ...... And the king will answer and say to them,

 'Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.'

Many of you will remember our recent request for help for the cyclone devestated people of Numba, Papua New Guinea.  You will remember because many of you responded quickly and generously with prayer and grace gifts for the benefit of our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ.  Because of your loving response we want to share the following letter from Jim Parlier explaining the help that he was able to arrange because of the offerings of so many.  Read it, be encouraged and thank God for His faithfulness.  Continue to pray for the believers there, for comfort, for strength, and for open doors to share the gospel and sound Bible teaching  with villages and people beyond their own plateau.  Jim writes....

Dear Gene and Nan,

I left for Papua New Guinea at the end of December last year.  As soon as I arrived in the capitol city of Port Moresby, I went shopping for food for the Managalasi people. With the money collected from caring people like you, I was able to buy OVER FOUR TONS of rice and canned fish!

At first I thought I'd have to pay the freight for all this food from Port Moresby to our village, but the Papua New Guinea Air Force flew the food in free of charge.  God has belssed with the saving of this expense, and with that saving, I was able to buy serveral tons more rice and fish.  Praise the Lord for this, and pray that the Air Force will also fly in the rest of the food, too.  I am negotiating with the Air Force to continue their most apprecaited help.

Other than Numba village (our village), two other villages located along the river were effected by the raging floods. Gardens and coffee trees are buried under landslides, and these Managalasi people literally have nothing.  One pastor told me they were eating whatever they could find.  Please pray for the distribution of food, that it will be given out evenly and meet the needs of these three villages.

Thank you for your contribution which has gone a long way in helping to make this provision possible.  I could not have purchased the food without your special gift.

In Christ,

Jim Parlier

In a footnote he adds "On March 25th 1600 pounds more food was airlifted in, and on March 28th another 1600 pounds.  I will be buying more as the SIL plane is available."

God is good....all the time!

With appreciation for your prayers and support,

Gene and Nan
